Terry Wickham, the renowned music industry professional and artistic director of the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, was born in Dublin, Ireland. His passion for music was ignited during car rides with his father, where they listened to iconic artists like Eric Clapton, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. Growing up immersed in Ireland's rich folk tradition, Terry developed a deep love for the genre. After a journey to Canada through a student exchange program, he settled in Calgary and became an independent promoter, overcoming financial challenges and gaining invaluable experience.
His breakthrough came when he landed a promoter position for the famous Irish folk group, The Chieftains, propelling him into the spotlight within the music industry. Recognized for his dedication and achievements, Terry accepted the role of artistic director for the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, leading the event with a vision that emphasizes talent, genre diversity, and inclusivity. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Terry's unwavering commitment to public safety and long-term sustainability ensured the festival's successful return in 2022, solidifying his status as a respected figure in the music industry.
