Anna’s Journey with YOUCAN Youth Services

Before the program I came in as a very anxious and shut in person. I was pretty down on myself and my future goals seemed very far from being reached.

Since getting into “Road To Work” I feel like I've opened up and discovered some of my self worth. I feel as though I am capable of accomplishment and standing out positively.

The program helped me in so many ways; I had opportunities to learn and see things I might never have had the opportunity to do without YOUCAN. I exposed myself to things that seemed uncomfortable or scary to try but ended up taking interest in it and enjoying the things I never thought of doing. I made some friends and received a ton of certifications that will help me with my trades journey.

I received multiple interviews and a few good job offers towards the end of the program, one of which I have accepted and will be going into the next steps of the hiring process. My hopes are to establish a good work life balance which is something I haven't prioritized for myself in the past. The job I've selected is something I take more interest in than my previous places of work and I hope to turn it into something long term or have it lead to other employment elsewhere in the future.

My long term goals are definitely more within reach having attended the program. I hope I can find a great career for myself, especially something with good benefits and a more than liveable wage. I have goals to start a family and travel comfortably; I can now see that as my actual future and not just an unrealistic dream.

Thank you for seeing potential in me and trusting me with a spot in the Road To Work program!” - Anna, road to work graduate.
